I saw this tag on The Orangutan Librarian and my first thought was: mid-year? Already? Time really passes faster the older we get. After a quick existential crisis over the passage of time, I decided to do the tag. Let’s see how my reading year has been so far.
BEST BOOK YOU’VE READ YET IN 2021
Absolutely loved it, I’m probably going to reread it this year as well.
BEST SEQUEL YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2021
I loved The Cruel Prince more than expected, and the sequel was just as good.
NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET BUT WANT TO
It’s a Peter Pan retelling that seems right up my alley. Also, I follow the author on twitter and she’s awesome.
MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE FOR THE SECOND HALF OF THE YEAR
Read the first part for a readathon and loved it, just a few more months till the sequel is out 😀
I didn’t find the characters interesting so there was no saving this. It’s the only 1 star rating I’ve given this year.
I didn’t expect much, I mostly read it to finally find out what the deal is with Jude and Cardan – ended up loving it completely.
FAVOURITE NEW AUTHOR
Naomi Novik, Holly Black and R.F. Kuang
NEWEST FICTIONAL CRUSH
I love villains, so I was very into Luc from The Invisible Life of Addie Larue.
NEWEST FAVOURITE CHARACTER
Rin from The Poppy War – because she surprised me so much. She’s not what I expected the heroine of the book to be like.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY
None. I’m heartless.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY
FAVOURITE BOOK TO FILM ADAPTATION
Made me love the crows and give another chance to Six of Crows – I ended up enjoying it on the second read. Can’t wait for the second season!
MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU’VE BOUGHT THIS YEAR
WHAT BOOKS DO YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR
I plan on reading The Burning God as soon as I’m done with The Dragon Republic and the other two I’ll get to sometime this year.
